This hotel has served President Eisenhower, Prime Minister Churchill, and the Spice Girls! Its exquisite lobby is to "die for" as you gaze up at the ceiling and the surrounding "open air" walkways. While there in the fall of 2003, we visited 2 of the many facilities in this hotel. The final reward for this evening's experience was getting my picture taken with one of the gracious hostesses.

Ship Tavern
An excellent dining experience in a casual atmosphere. The seafood and the steak was just divine! A walk off the street and you are treated like a king, and the food is fit for a king as well.

Churchill Bar
An excellent retreat after having dined at the Ship Tavern. The paneled walls, the ambiance, all help to accentuate the close to a hectic business day.

Great traditional Mexican food, although a tad different than what you would find in New Mexico or Texas. A good staple of variety, and wonderful service.

OK! So I am extremely partial to Ruth's Chris Steak House! Wherever I have been across the country, I have always found this restaurant to satisfy me and my business guests beyond expectation. While returning to Denver from a meeting 3 hours outside of the city, we wondered where we would stop for dinner. I called Nextel information and asked for a Ruth's Chris in Denver,....they connected me. The reservation staff book our dinner AND gave us directions to the restaurant. My associates, one from New Mexico and one from Michigan had never dined at Ruth's Chris. When we arrived, we noticed a side-walk dining area, and despite the fact that we were booked for in-house dining, the staff graciously seated us outdoors. The food was the same exquisite food that I had come to expect. My business associates were duly impressed,.....and we spent the end of a busy day with excellent food, fine wine, and some wonderful after dinner aperitifs.

An interesting site to visit with 360 acres of rides, shows, attractions as well as the 1/4 mile long suspension bridge (the world's highest at 1,053 feet). There is also the world's longest single-span aerial tram, the steepest incline railway and the Royal Rush Skycoaster where you can swing out over the gorge. Walking across the bridge and peeking through the gaps of the wooden planks to the gorge below is definitely a rush!

We stopped here on the way to the Royal Gorge. The winery is located next to a beautiful Benedictine Abbey and the Benedictine Father's manage this winery. As a California wine lover, I never expected to find such wonderful wines in the middle of Colorado,.....but the Merlot was a great discovery.
